Internship at Lou de Bètoly
Lou de Bètoly is a Berlin-based French designer known for her avant-garde approach to fashion, blending craftsmanship with sustainability. Her designs emphasize upcycling and repurposing existing materials, creating unique, handcrafted pieces that challenge traditional notions of luxury. With a strong focus on eco-friendly production, her work combines intricate detailing, experimental silhouettes, and a bold, artistic vision.
During my internship, I gained hands-on experience in both design and production, working closely with the team to develop and construct garments. I assisted in handcrafting made-to-order pieces from previous collections, adapting patterns into multiple sizes, and taking part in the entire creative process for the new season—from initial design concepts to sewing, hand-stitching, and patchwork techniques. Additionally, I supported the fashion show backstage team, ensuring the flawless execution of runway presentations.
This internship provided me with invaluable insight into the atelier and haute couture-like production process, where craftsmanship and creativity are at the core of garment-making. I developed a deeper understanding of how artisanal collections are designed, produced, and presented, reinforcing my skills in both technical execution and creative problem-solving.
